Suggestions to Boost Efficiency While Working on Macbook

Macbooks are one of the most popular choices when it comes to computers. Moreover, some people are switching from personal computers to Macs for the sake of convenience. A lightweight and durable design, in addition to many neat features, make Macbook a desired item on the market.

Nevertheless, once you get a Mac and launch it for the first time, you will realize how different it is from other operating systems. And if you do not have the time to learn how to use the computer naturally because of work or studies, you will need to take a proactive approach.

This article will give you a better understanding of how to master your Macbook faster. Focus on the suggestions below and memorize some of the most important points about using a Macbook.

Suggestion #1 – Keep the System Junk-Free

System junk data is a big hindrance when you want to focus on work. Think of your Macbook’s desktop as you would of your regular work desk. The more stuff is on the desk, the harder it is to concentrate.

A clutter-free Mac desktop helps with the computer’s overall performance and offers fewer distractions, such as video game shortcuts.

Removing temporary data, such as app extensions, system backups, plugins, and caches, will prevent potential issues, such as a spinning beach ball. There are free and paid app cleaners to choose from, and a utility cleanup tool simplifies the process of getting rid of unnecessary system files by deleting them automatically.

Suggestion #2 – Memorize Keyboard Shortcuts

The list of Macbook keyboard shortcuts is available on the official Apple support site. As different users have different needs, you will need to look through the list and pick shortcuts that you believe to be the most useful and focus on memorizing them first.

Some of the most popular keyboard shortcuts are Shift + Command + 3 or 4 to take screenshots on the Macbook, Option + Command + H to hide a tab, or Command + Tab to swap between applications.

Suggestion #3 – Use the Dictation Feature

The dictation feature allows you to enter a text on a computer with your voice. If you are holding a document in one hand and want to copy the document’s text but do not have a scanner, it would be easier to read the word out loud and see how the text appears on the Macbook.

Suggestion #4 – Invest in Accessories

Accessories and new hardware cost money, but they are a neat addition and can help you get the most out of the Macbook. Additional RAM or even an external graphics processing unit is something to consider down the line once your computer hardware becomes outdated, but what about accessories that can help you right now?

Well, a curved stand and a cooling pad are some of the most popular options. The latter is excellent to prevent overheating when you are stuck in a poorly ventilated room with no AC.

External hard drives and batteries are also quite popular. If you have problems freeing up Macbook’s drive, why not transfer some of the data to an external storage device? As for the battery, if your Mac’s battery is dead and you encounter the issue often, you need a replacement or an upgrade.

Suggestion #5 – Make Digital Signatures

Those who have to sign documents often and then scan them to send a copy to another person would appreciate a simpler solution. Thankfully, macOS has a feature that lets users create digital signatures and use them on PDF documents.

Open a PDF document via Preview and click on the Signature tab. The app will ask you to create a new signature.

You have three methods. The first is to write down the signature on a piece of paper and let take a picture with the Macbook’s camera. The second is to sign on the trackpad. The third method is to write your signature on an iPhone and copy it to the Macbook.

Once you save the signature on the Macbook, you can add it in PDF documents via Preview by clicking the Signature tab again. However, instead of creating a new signature, you will have an option to add one that you have already created.

Suggestion #6 – Optimize Internet Browser

A lackluster internet browser will prevent you from surfing the web efficiently. Be it work or studies; we rely on the world wide web to find information, not to mention that some of us prefer the internet as a platform to consume media and other means of entertainment.

An overabundance of extensions and add-ons is one of the most common causes behind poor web browser performance. Remove extensions that you do not need.

A lack of updates leads to issues, as well. It will also help if you stick to only one or two open tabs when surfing the internet whenever possible. Finally, get in the habit of clearing the browser cache regularly.
