Tip 1: Check Antivirus Features

Antivirus is meant to protect the computer from harmful activities. Hence there are some protocols that can restrict the use of some application configurations. As a result, it may do collateral damage causing an application freeze. 

What you can do is, try disabling the antivirus for a time-period and then check if other applications are responsive or not. You can even consider removing the antivirus as Windows will automatically enable the Defender from any threats. 

Tip 2: Launch One App At A Time

Needless to say, if you attempt to launch more than two applications at a time, the run-time speed decreases. As a result, system storage resources are getting extended. This can cause the application to freeze due to low memory space in RAM. 

Try quitting all the ongoing applications and open them one at a time. This will optimally, maximize the resource of the system.

 You can also quit the current application by right-clicking anywhere on the screen and hitting the “Task Manager”. Thereafter, click on the applications and choose the “End Task option. 

Tip 3: Uninstall/Re-Install Applications

Is it a specific application that refuses to respond? Then you should consider reinstalling the application. Additionally, you will have the default configurations of the applications from scratch one. 

Go to the search box of the Windows “Start” menu and type “Programs And Features”. Now among the list of all the programs, choose the ones you’d like to uninstall. After you’ve uninstalled them, get the application files from the internet and re=install them again. 

Tip 4: Upgrade Windows 10 Operating System

If you upgrade the operating system to its latest version then you will not get the windows 10 not responding problem. In addition to this, it will enhance the system performance. 

Go to the search field of Windows and type “Services”. Click on the result and then the Windows Update box will appear. Now, under the “General” tab, locate the “Startup Type” and make it “Automatic”. 

After that, click on the option called  “Apply” and hit the button called “OK”. Close the box after that. 

Tip 5: Fix Registry

Often times, the Registry of Windows may have entries that are damaged and can cause windows 10 application not responding error. It is advisable that you clear the registry by using a verified cleaner tool. 

Tools for cleaning the registry are available on the web. However, you should be aware of virus-infected files. Hence, download the correct and verified tool. 

Tip 6: Run The System File Checker

This is an in-built function of the system that runs a diagnosis to check for corrupted files. These corrupted files upon being found, are repaired by the system itself. 

First, press the “Windows and the “X” button and then launch “Command Prompt” as an administrator. Now, at the cursor, type “sfc/scannow” and hit the “Enter” button. 

This action will scan the system for damaged files and repair them. Take note, that this process should take approximately 15 minutes or more than that. It is advisable that you do not close the windows until the process is over. 

After the repairing is over, simply close the Command prompt and restart the system. 

Tip 7: End Task In Task Manager

If you clean the background running applications then you will not get the application not responding error. 

SImply, press the “Ctrl”, “Esc” and the “Shift’ button to launch the “Task Manager”. Thereafter, open the “Desktop Manager” and then click on the “End Task” button. 

After this, all the remaining applications running will be cleared. Restart the system and check if any application is freezing or not.
