How to Solve CSGO Not Launching | 8 Steps to Fix the Problem

Talking about the Counter-Strike: Global Offence, it is one of the most popular online games. But, nothing is worse than the CSGO not launching, as well this can lead to abrupt game crashes. When this type of situation appears, you need to act soon. As per the complaints made by the users, when they start the game, it begins without any hassle but after a few seconds, it stops unexpectedly.

As most of you are not an expert at solving this problem, a few users even blamed the application and the system hardware or software for the issue. But, the main reasons behind the issue are malfunctions in the configuration settings, incorrect integrity of game system files, system incompatibility, and others. So, you need to study and then follow all the best possible solutions that are given here.

1. Grant the Admin Rights

The applications on your computer will only run properly when they get the administrator rights from your computer. The admin rights grant permission to access all the resources of the system. If the game didn’t receive access for permission, then CSGO not launching might take place.

So, the idea is very simple. As the shortest link to the game is present on the desktop,  right-click on it and run it as an administrator. In doing so, the game will open and hopefully, you will not encounter any unexpected shutdown.

2. Alter the Configuration Settings

When the CSGO not launching, you need to perform some changes in the configuration settings. One of the best ways to do this is by opening the system drive and the program files. If you are playing the game on the Steam gaming platform, then you need to open the Steam folder.

Only the CSGO sub-folder will be accessible to you. Now, a question can easily arise here which is about the identification of the file. The extension of the file is .cfg which will help you in identifying. When you get the configuration file, delete it. The file will return to its destination folder which was created by the game when you started playing.

3. Download the Latest Version of Graphics Drivers

Watching media files or playing games always requires the support of a graphics card. But, the presence of the graphics card is not enough, its dedicated drivers are also important. When the drivers become outdated, CSGO not launching can take place. That is why the gaming and tech experts always suggest people update not only the graphics drivers but also the driver of their computer.

There are mainly two ways of updating the graphics drivers — The first one is manual and the second one is automatic. As per the expert’s recommendation, it is very much convenient to download the drivers manually. This might consume a bit of time but is one of the best ways to update the drivers.

Visit the main website that has manufactured your system. Try to find out the menu where all the latest drivers are present. Make sure you download the correct files that are compatible with your system. When you install the drivers, the new files will replace the old ones. Now, the next step will be to reboot your computer to save the changes.

4. Delete the New Windows Update Files

New updates from Microsoft’s master server have a higher possibility of bugs. That is why the CSGO not launching takes place. Restoring the computer to its earliest version will help you. On the other hand, you can also access the installed program list where the name of the installed update files is present, select and uninstall them. This will not only eliminate the installed update files but also the bugs as well. Hopefully, the game will start without any glitches.

5. Delete the Integrity Game Files

When the game files are somehow damaged due to software conflicts, you need to check the integrity. Don’t worry, you just have to find out the function which will help you out. Just open the game and head towards the library. You will find the official game folder.

Open it and choose Properties. Now, navigate through the Local Files and you will eventually find the option to Verify the Integrity of the Game File. Now, select the process and when it ends, try to play the game and check whether the issue is still there or not.

6. Eliminate the Compatibility Mode

If somehow the game becomes incompatible with your computer, then the compatibility mode helps the game to match the specification to a certain level, so that you can at least play the game. But sometimes, it also creates barriers at the game runtime. Therefore, the best way to solve the CSGO not launching issue is to turn off the compatibility mode.

Just find the built-in setup file, right-click on it to open the Properties. There you will be able to see a checkbox with the option ‘Run as Administrator and Compatibility mode’. Uncheck it and click on Apply to save the changes.

7. Stop other Background Running Programs

How can you find the other background programs that are running and also preventing the game to launch properly? Yes, the Task Manager will provide you with the correct answer. With the help of the Task Manager, you will be able to find the list of background programs that are still running. Select and stop the application processes one by one. This ending process will not only help the game to start and run smoothly but also free the volatile from being occupied by the background programs.

8. Remove the Game and Reinstall

Removing the game completely will also delete the entire game folders as well as the files. Obviously, you have to install it once again. The uninstallation will also remove any possible chances of software conflicts and corrupted game files that might occur. The Control Panel or the Settings of the System will help you find out the list of installed applications.

Find out the game, select and click on the Uninstall button. If necessary, you can also uninstall Steam. Now, reboot the computer and then install Steam as well as the game. Hopefully, the issue that you are facing with the game will not occur again.

Important Facts about CS: Opt for Gaming Consoles

Playing any games on gaming consoles always gives the edge, as well as an immersive gaming experience. But just like PC, the game also faces a lot of challenges regarding errors. To avoid them, it’s better to turn off the DVR mode. The term DVR might vary in different consoles. So, go through the user manual to find the correct terms.

Move on to the Settings and select game DVR. The DVR mode is used to snap screenshots and record clips while playing the game. When your main intention is to just play the game, it’s better not to focus on recording clips or taking screenshots. Just disable the respective toggle and click on Save.
