Easy Fixes for Automatic Repair Your PC Did Not Start Correctly Issue in Windows 10

If at the booting process the computer does not start normally, then you will get a message that says “Your PC did not start correctly” in a blue screen with the heading ‘Automatic Repair’. This issue can appear due to several reasons. Some of the most common ones are that if you do not install new software or driver correctly, then this issue can appear.

If some of the core system files get corrupted, then also there is a chance for you to encounter this issue. When the BCD gets corrupted somehow, next, you can even face this issue.

Here, there will be plenty of methods that will help you to rectify this issue in an easy way.

1: Boot Configuration Data Rebuild Procedure

If the BCD or Boot Configuration Data gets botched up due to some reason, then you can get this issue. The correct answer to resolve this problem is to build the BCD once again. Here are the steps on how can you do it.

  • First, from the screen where the message is present choose the ‘Advanced Options’ button.
  • After that, locate and select the ‘Command Prompt’ option from the next page. As soon as you do that, then a new window having the name ‘Command Prompt’ will come up.
  • Inside that window, type the following commands – “bootrec /fixmbr”, “bootrec /fixboot”, “bootrec /rebuildbcd”. Press ‘Enter’ keys after each of those commands.
  • Wait for executions of all the commands. Once the execution of all the commands is over, next close the ‘Command Prompt’ window.
  • At last, restart the machine and then see if this issue appears again or not.

2: Use the Startup Repair Tool in Safe Mode

You can use the ‘Startup Repair’ tool to fix the “automatic repair your pc did not start correctly” issue. For that to happen, you will have to start the computer in ‘Safe Mode’. In order to do that, follow the steps below.

  • First, hit the ‘Shift’ key and hold it.
  • While holding the ‘Shift’ key, press the ‘Power’ button of the computer and then click on the ‘Restart’ button.
  • When a new ‘Choose an option’ screen appears, next, click on the ‘Troubleshoot’ option. Now, from the ‘Troubleshoot’ page, locate and choose the ‘Startup Settings’ then select ‘Restart’.
  • At this moment, select the ‘F4’ key. This action will boot the computer in Safe Mode.
  • Once again, repeat the process given on the first two steps to restart the computer. Now, click on the ‘Troubleshoot’ and then the ‘Advanced Options’ respectively.
  • Finally, tap on the ‘Startup Repair’ option.

3: Run System File Checker

If the system files of the computer get missing or corrupt, then there is a possibility for you to meet with this problem. The best answer to resolve this problem is to execute the ‘System File Checker’ tool. Follow these steps in order to know how can you do it.

  • First, input the Windows bootable USB device into the port. Next, boot the computer from that media.
  • Once the ‘Windows Installation’ window comes up, next, choose the language you prefer, Operating System, time and date. After that, click on the ‘Next’ button.
  • Now, a new page with the ‘Install Now’ button on the middle will come up. Inside that page, go to the lower-left section and choose the ‘Repair your computer’ link.
  • At this time, from the new screen that appears, choose the ‘Troubleshoot’ and then ‘Command Prompt’ option.
  • Inside the ‘Command Prompt’ window, input the following command – “sfc /scannow” and then hit the ‘Enter’ button. Wait for this command to execute completely.
  • Once the execution of this command is over, next, type “exit” and hit the ‘Enter’ key to quit from the ‘Command Prompt’ window.
  • Lastly, reboot the computer and check if this problem comes up or not.

4: Use the System Restore Tool

Here, you will get steps regarding how to rectify this error by using the ‘System Restore ’ tool.

  • First, press the ‘Advanced options’ button present on the screen where the error message is there.
  • Next, from the page with the heading ‘Advanced options’ locate and choose the ‘System Restore’ option.
  • Now, choose the correct Operating System. As soon as you do that, a new window with the title ‘System Restore’  will come up.
  • Inside that window, click on the ‘Next’ button. After that, from the list choose the correct restore point before this error has occurred.
  • Now, click on the ‘Scan for affected programs’ button. This will open a new window where you will know which applications will not be available after the restore process. Then, close this window and click on the ‘Next’ button on the ‘System Restore’ window.
  • On the final page, check the information about the restore point and then click on the ‘Finish’ button.
  • At last, the restore process of the system will begin, so wait for a few minutes until the computer is booted into a working state.

5: Remove any New Software

If any new software installed into the computer gets corrupted, then you may get this error message. The best answer to get rid of this problem is to remove that software form the computer via Safe Mode. To do that follow the steps below.

  • Go to the second method and then follow the first four steps to open the computer in ‘Safe Mode’
  • Now, press the keys ‘Windows + R’ to open the ‘Run’ dialog box. Inside that dialog box, type the “control panel” and then click the ‘OK’ button.
  • This action will open the ‘Control Panel’ window. In that window, choose the ‘Programs’ option. From the next page, locate and select the ‘Programs and Features’ option.
  • As soon as you click on that option, then a new page with a list full of installed applications will come up. From that list, find the problematic application and right-click on it.
  • Next, from the popup menu that comes up, select the ‘Uninstall’ option. This will open a new uninstaller window, in it, follow the on-screen instructions and then accordingly click on the ‘Uninstall’ button.
  • Now, wait for the removal process of this application to complete and then restart the computer.
  • Finally, inspect whether this problem comes up or not.
